The Photography Show 2017
I visited the photography show at the NEC for the first time this year and was amazed. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, learning, seeing and trying out some new gear and of course coming home with the bag full of free goodies and leaflets.
I listened to talks on the Nikon stage by Dixie Dixon about her fashion photography and a talk by Lara Jade who I absolutely admire for her portraits. It was a real eye opener to hear her talk on the Canon Live stage about her work, experiences and techniques. Its lovely to hear a real in depth story about an image including all the background details about the day of the shoot.
I had booked onto the student conference for the afternoon to hear all about the transaction from University to having a professional business and carer. There was also a panel of young professional photographers who spoke about their carers, which was extremely useful especially to hear about how they networked.
I spoke to as many people as possible on different stalls, getting information and ideas, and just generally taking in as much information form the day as possible. The dvd’s and booklets I received are all very helpful for me to try out new techniques.
There was so much variety in studio equipment and camera accessories to choose from. I wanted to look into the possibility of a home studio and see what possibilities there are for me. It really helped me that after I spoke to retailers there was lots of demonstrations on using the equipment and getting the best out of it.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day at the photography show, I learnt lots and was inspired by so many people. I will be definitely be returning next year.
